Methods of Performance Evaluation

There are various methods of performance evaluation that we can adopt:

Self-evaluation

Self-evaluation allows employees to assess their work against criteria, aiding in formal performance evaluations and fostering awareness. Discrepancies in ratings provide valuable insights.

Management by objectives

Management by objectives (MBO) is a management technique where managers and employees work together to set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound objectives that align with the overall goals of the organization. This performance appraisal system is a more cutting-edge form of performance review since it incorporates the employee in the goal-setting process.

Rating scale

The most common performance evaluation technique is a rating scale or grading system. The system is based on a set of employer-developed criteria against which workers are rated, which can include behaviors, attributes, competencies, or completed systems. This scales employees on a ten- or five-point scale in general.

Behavioral checklist

A behavioral checklist is a list of actions an employee must exhibit to be considered a useful team member and receive a favorable evaluation.
